Learning and Teaching Showcase 2016
BOLD Learning: Increasing Student Engagement
The theme for this year’s Learning and Teaching Showcase was 'Increasing Student Engagement'. The theme covered ideas around using BOLD Learning to increase student engagement, both in the blended and fully online environments. Presentations at the showcase displayed innovative examples and case studies from colleagues within the university plus a mixture of emerging technologies and new ideas.
Our Keynote Speaker this year was Rachael Hains-Wesson (PhD), who specialises in the higher education sector around Work-Integrated Learning, blended learning, STEM education, reflective practice and creative arts (practice and research). Her teaching and learning philosophy focuses on the use of creativity to undergo cutting edge research, improve teaching practices and create innovative co-curriculum design and delivery. Rachael is a Senior Lecturer in Work-Integrated Learning at Swinburne University of Technology. One of her main focuses is the implementation of the The Swinburne Advantage as the Convenor for Industry Study Tours, Professional Placements and Professional Internships. She is also the Convenor for Professional Masters Careers Management unit for Engineering and Business post-graduate international students.
