Workday scheduled maintenance
As a Workday customer, Federation benefits from routine maintenance and updates performed by the vendor. Please note that the system will be temporarily unavailable for up to 12 hours on Saturdays during these essential updates.
In addition to weekly maintenance, Workday also releases new features and enhancements twice a year, in March and September. These updates are designed to improve your experience and expand functionality, so you may notice some minor changes to the look and feel of Workday, including icons, layouts, and features.
🛠️ If you experience any issues with the latest version, please reach out by creating a case for support.

About the program
The University has embarked on a multi-year journey to enhance our employee experience by transforming the way we
manage our people and finances, powered by Workday!
By replacing our disconnected, ageing systems with this best-in-class modern platform, we'll gain the flexibility we need to respond to the evolving needs of the future. For staff, it will mean self-service activities made easier, and less time spent on manual processes and forms. For our leaders, it means mechanisms and tools to access reliable real-time data to support effective decision-making and accountable leadership. |
Workday is a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, recognised worldwide as a best-in-class solution in both people and financial management. This technology brings us a centralised, flexible, high-performance system and we gain the flexibility to respond to future workplace needs. Being cloud-based, Workday enables 24/7 access to information over a secure network. All in one place, at any time, from anywhere. |
Yes! All staff at Federation use Workday, but your role determines the information you see and the tasks you perform, as outlined below:

Workday went live for all staff on 16 November 2023! This is an incredible milestone for the University and our people, after 11 months of design and implementation activities. With Workday now live for our People and Culture processes, we’ve embraced a modern, mobile-ready platform across the entire employee lifecycle. As we adopt and adapt to Workday at Federation, there is plenty of support available. Visit the Get Help page to find out to access peer support, direct access (24/7) support and specialist People and Culture support. |
Our focus over the coming months is to continuously improve our processes and use of the Workday system, to better serve our people and achieve organisational goals.
In 2024, we will all start using Workday for goal setting and to manage performance reviews. There will be a training session for people managers that covers how to do this, as well as dedicated Q&A sessions. These will be scheduled just before the goal setting and performance review activities commence.
