Workday scheduled maintenance
As a Workday customer, Federation benefits from routine maintenance and updates performed by the vendor. Please note that the system will be temporarily unavailable for up to 12 hours on Saturdays during these essential updates.
In addition to weekly maintenance, Workday also releases new features and enhancements twice a year, in March and September. These updates are designed to improve your experience and expand functionality, so you may notice some minor changes to the look and feel of Workday, including icons, layouts, and features.
🛠️ If you experience any issues with the latest version, please reach out by creating a case for support.

About the program
The University has embarked on a multi-year journey to enhance our employee experience by transforming the way we
manage our people and finances, powered by Workday!
By replacing our disconnected, ageing systems with this best-in-class modern platform, we've gained the flexibility needed to adapt to the evolving needs of the future. For staff, this means simpler self-service activities, and less time spent on manual processes and forms. For our leaders, it it provides reliable, real-time data and the tools to support effective decision-making and accountable leadership. |
Workday is a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, recognised worldwide as a best-in-class solution in both people and financial management.
This technology brings us a centralised, flexible, high-performance system and we gain the flexibility to respond to future workplace needs.
Being cloud-based, Workday enables 24/7 access to information over a secure network.
All in one place, at any time, from anywhere.
Yes! All staff at Federation use Workday, but your role determines the information you see and the tasks you perform, as outlined below:
- Everyone uses Workday to update their personal information, view payslips, find people in the organisation and complete mandatory and compliance training. Depending on your employment circumstances, you may also submit time (timesheets) and leave requests, set goals and complete your performance and development reviews. You can also access People and Culture support from within Workday.
- People leaders leverage Workday to manage their teams, from recruiting to off-boarding. Some tasks can be conveniently completed through the Workday mobile app, such as reviewing and approving time and leave requests.
- And the People and Culture team use Workday to manage all processes in the employee lifecycle, from recruitment through to termination. The team also uses Workday to respond to queries from staff.
Workday went live for all staff on 16 November 2023! This is an incredible milestone for the University and our people, after 11 months of design and implementation activities.
With Workday now live for our People and Culture processes, we’ve embraced a modern, mobile-ready platform across the entire employee lifecycle.
As we adopt and adapt to Workday at Federation, there is plenty of support available. Visit the Get Help page to find out to access peer support, direct access (24/7) support and specialist People and Culture support.
In 2025, our focus remains on continuously improving our processes and how we use the Workday system to better support our people and achieve our organisational goals.
As we embed Workday into more of our everyday work, training and support sessions to help staff and leaders confidently navigate new processes will continue to be offered. These sessions will be scheduled alongside any new features or activities introduced throughout the year.
