Water Safety Hub

Welcome to the Water Safety Hub. This place is full of resources for international students to build your awareness, knowledge and skills crucial for water safety, survival and rescue.

Our best tips to stay safe around water

  • check the weather
  • never swim alone
  • don’t swim if you’ve had alcohol
  • read and obey safety signs
  • don’t put yourself in danger to get a great photo
  • learn first aid.

Educate yourself

How do you know if a beach is safe for swimming? What’s a flood warning? When do you need to wear a life jacket? How do you spot a rip? Find the answers to these questions and more on the Victorian Government’s water safety website.

Learn to swim

If you lack confidence in the water – if your swimming style is all splash and sink – don’t worry, it’s never too late to learn. Enrol in an adult swim class to learn how to float, tread water, master different strokes, improve your breathing and get out of trouble.
