Your growth matters

Your growth matters is Federation’s Workday-based performance review process. It replaces the former PRDP process in PageUp.

Staff surveys, including 'Your voice matters', have identified career planning, professional development, and recognition as priorities for our workforce.

Created to be much more than a performance review process, Your growth matters (YGM) is also a way we can work together to achieve individual aspirations, enhance our skills, and contribute meaningfully to our organisation.

How does it work?

Your growth matters consists of a simple 3-step process, which takes place throughout the year, and includes:

Image: YVM three steps: STEP 1: Goal setting; STEP 2: Check in; STEP 3: Reflect.

Step 1:  Goal setting

Setting your objectives and development plan at the start of the year, aligned with your role and Federation's strategy.

Step 2:  Check in

Having regular check-ins with your manager to review your progress, celebrate your achievements, and identify any support you need.

Step 3:  Reflect

Reflect on your performance, learning, and growth, and to recognise your contributions to Federation.

What’s in it for me?

For all employees

  • empower your growth!
  • feel valued and understood in your career aspirations
  • receive regular, growth-oriented feedback
  • engage in a transparent process that recognises and rewards your contributions.

For senior leaders and managers

  • lead with impact!
  • foster a motivated and high-performing team.
  • align team goals with strategic organisational objectives.
  • develop strong, supportive relationships with your team.

Ready to check-in?

With the change that is currently underway at Federation, we thought some of you might appreciate the opportunity to have a check-in with your supervisor and/or direct reports to discuss wellbeing, goals and development items.

Originally planned to launch in April, however we decided to postpone the check-in stage to allow everyone to focus on Future Fed.  Since then, we have received queries from both employees and supervisors seeking guidance on how to complete a YGM check-in in Workday.  In response, we have now made several new quick reference guides (QRGs) available to support you in preparing for, and completing, a check-in whenever you're ready.

Why is it important to check-in?

YGM check-ins offer several benefits, including the opportunity to:

  • review and update your current goals and development items, archiving any that are now obsolete
  • create any new goals as needed
  • document your achievements for 2024 so far
  • conduct a wellbeing check-in with your supervisor and/or direct reports.

When should I check-in?

Ideally you can incorporate your check-ins into your regular one-on-one meeting schedule with your supervisor and/or direct reports.  If you don’t currently have regular one-on-one meetings, we’d recommend catching up every two to three months at a minimum.

We acknowledge that this may not be ideal timing for all members of our workforce, and so we want to remind you that YGM check-ins can take place any time between now and the final ‘Reflect’ phase in October.

What do I need to do?

There are three steps to a YGM check-in:

  1. set up your check-in with your supervisor and/or direct reports
  2. update your Goals and your Development Items in Workday
  3. have your check-in discussion with your supervisor and/or direct reports.

The following QRGs have been created to assist you with each step of this process:

Managers/supervisors

Reminder: You can find all YGM resources in Workday via the Help Centre or the SharePoint Workday library.

Want to know more?

We will also be ‘checking in’ with you (see what we did there?! 😉) in the next couple of months in some live online sessions to answer any questions you may have regarding the Your growth matters check-in process. These will be announced via FedNews, Fed Engage and the YGM web page.
