Sport performance
This applied research area uses a multi-disciplinary approach with the goal of identifying evidence for enhancing sports performance from community-level to elite or professional sport. A major focus is on the physical preparation of athletes, and includes studies on endurance, speed, agility and power training or assessment. Research also integrates performance analysis tools such as global positioning systems and player wellness self-reporting with training load to inform practitioners about performance and wellness in Australian football. This research area also includes studies of sports techniques with biomechanical analyses, and enhancing performance with improved mental skills such as performing under pressure and minimising the negative influence of choking.
