PASS program: Join a study group for your course
Studying's essential for your success, so why not study in a group led by someone who recently achieved great marks in this unit?
PASS sessions are run for challenging first-year undergraduate units. All students are welcome - whether you are struggling, doing okay, or are a high achiever. Sessions are free and it's your choice to attend.
Studies show students who regularly attend PASS significantly improve their final grade and make friends. PASS helps you to revise unit content, get to know your classmates, ask questions in a low stress environment, and prepare for exams and assessments in a fun way.
How do I join a PASS session?
You can access the sessions via Moodle. Simply go to your unit's Moodle shell at the right time, and it will open up the session in a Teams meeting.
If you’d like to add the sessions to your calendar and get helpful reminders, register for PASS sessions here.

PASS is a 1 hour session that might include:
- a review of the lecture and assigned readings,
- group work and discussions,
- problem solving and critical thinking activities,
- how to prepare for assignments and end of unit assessments or exams,
- discussion of key course concepts,
- small quizzes, group brainstorms and other group activities.
In PASS you will...
- learn from a student who has been through the course before,
- work with your classmates to better understand course material,
- have the chance to ask questions that may seem silly,
- have access to more study materials, such as past exams or mock exam questions,
- make friends and have fun!
Your PASS leader...
- is an experienced student,
- shares their study tips with you,
- helps you understand what to learn as well as how to learn it,
- is a role model for how to achieve great marks in your course,
- will empower you to become an independent learner.
