A SEAT AT THE PERIODIC TABLE
In chemistry, the periodic table of elements is arranged into different groups, and group XVII is made up of halogens, which includes five elements that are chemically similar, halogens also found in the human body. Chlorine, one of the halogens, has atomic number 17. Reactions abound. Chemistry, fluidity, creation, explosion…
In performance, what are the chemical, atomic, salty ideas and images for 2025? In A SEAT AT THE PERIODIC TABLE, you will see an actor who discovers an empty space. Songs of youth and age, love and surrender. Two people driving along a country road trying to make peace. Words overheard on the train. The struggle for dominance vs the urge to forgive. Reactive melting points and silly jokes. A rant, a dance and a rave.
We have given our theatres, costumes, spaces and talented staff to the Third Years who will be graduating at the end of this year. And this prompt: “Why should the world see your performance piece now?” Reactions abound. Chemistry, fluidity, creation, explosion, leading to reflections of desire and hope. There are no seats at a periodic table, of course, but please take your seat anyway. This is my 25th year leading the Arts Academy, yet I often imagine I am following in the wake of my talented graduates.
These are our theatre makers of the future. Don’t miss them!
