Jenny Peterson
Sessional Lecturer, Visual Arts
As an artist, Jenny Peterson investigates the found object as printing plate. In recent work broken road signs and scrap metal are re-presented as prints on paper; they become a new collection of off-site markers. Scratched and dented metal surfaces are fixed as traces of memory onto soft paper. She mimics signage techniques with text, gathering and printing words about collecting, the souvenir and the journey. She has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions. In 2015, the Latrobe Regional Gallery in Morwell presented her solo exhibition, Find.Save.Keep. Her studio and gallery are situated in the small regional town of Boolarra in Gippsland. She was one of six finalists in the 2016 Linden Art Prize in St Kilda. She has been selected twice by the Print Council of Australia (2002, 2015) for their artist commission projects and her work is held in many public collections around Australia. She is represented by Port Jackson Press in Melbourne.
