John graduated from Arts Academy acting program in 2008. He then worked for the Theatre in Education company, Brainstorm Productions, for five years, taking shows to schools all over Australia. In 2015, John performed in a show he helped develop, The Yellow Wave, as part of the inaugural Poppy Seed Festival. The show was nominated for a Green Room award in the Best Ensemble category.
