Short-term accommodation

Our accommodation is open to more than just residential students. We warmly welcome a diverse range of guests throughout the year — including students attending intensives or irregular learning blocks, Federation University staff travelling between campuses, placement students from Federation University and other institutions, as well as visitors to the University.

Whether you choose to stay with us for a few nights, a week or a little longer we look forward to welcoming you.

Locations

Ballarat

Peter Lalor Hall is located at the Mt Helen Campus. Peter Lalor provides single bedroom accommodation with shared  kitchen and bathroom facilities. Laundry facilities are available to guests.

Short term guests have access to the Health, Sports and Aquatic Centre (HSA) during their stay.

Short stay premium is now available- upgrade your stay for even more comfort and convenience.

Gippsland

West Residences are shared self-contained 5 or 6 bedroom units, with kitchen, living and bathroom facilities, offering the convenience of being on campus, as well as within walking distance to local shops and restaurants.

Berwick

Residences are located at Berwick Campus, and offer a range of accommodation options to suit your needs, including ensuite rooms with shared kitchen facilities.


How to book

Booking requests for short-term stays accommodation can be made through the Fedliving Portal.

  • If this is your first booking with us you will need to register, if you have made previous bookings with us, please log in to complete your booking.
  • Bookings should be made at least five working days prior to your check-in date. Confirmation and invoices will be sent to your registered email address with instructions on how to pay. Payment in full must be made prior to check-in for short term accommodation bookings.
  • Discounted rate available for federation placement students. Subject to placement confirmation

Special Events Accommodation

We are pleased to welcome guests to stay with us during local events and festivals.

Internal staff bookings

Please request your internal staff accommodation booking through the Commercial Services ServiceNow Portal.

Checking in/out

Check in details will be emailed to you prior to arrival, including details for after-hours and weekend arrivals. Check-in is available from 2pm on the day of arrival.

Check-out is prior to 10am on the day of departure. A key drop box is available in the Fedliving office foyer.

Short term accommodation bookings require full payment of fees prior to check-in.

  • Placement rate is applicable to
    • Federation placement students only, subject to placement confirmation
    • Stays of 4 weeks (28 nights) or less.
  • Federation University students requiring accommodation for longer than 4 weeks, please contact us.

What's included in short stay?

Linen- Short term accommodation units include full bed linen and towel for guests.

Kitchens will include a range of basic cooking utensils and appliances, including stove, oven, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave.

Laundry facilities are available for all guests, which may be located in the unit, or in a communal space depending on the accommodation location. Laundries are equipped with washing machine, dryer, ironing board and iron. You are to supply your own washing powder and washing basket.

Internet Access – Your residence will be equipped with either a wired ethernet computer point or wireless connection for network and internet access depending on your residential location.

Cancellations

Cancellation Policy*

A full refund will be issued where Fedliving receives notification of your cancellation at least 24 hours before your check in (by 2pm the day before). After this time bookings are non-refundable.

No Shows - if you fail to check in and no cancellation has been made, this will be deemed a ‘no show' and all monies paid will be forfeited.

Terminations - no refund will be issued where you have checked in and chosen to terminate your booking early.

Fedliving reserves the right to make exceptions to these policies where extenuating circumstances occur and notification from the guest is received. Bookings which have been made by a third-party platform such as Airbnb or Stayz are subject to the cancellation policies of the booking site.

Group Accommodation Options

Our accommodation isn't just for students. We also have a range of options if you're visiting the area and have groups, families and individuals stay with us throughout the year. We also accommodate school trips, sporting competitions or conferences, and offer a range of facilities and services with our tailored packages.
