Experiencing or witnessing violence, including sexual harm, can leave you feeling confused, scared and upset. It is important to know that if you have experienced violence or sexual harm, you are not to blame and you are not alone.

Making sure you are safe is the first priority. Seek medical help if you are injured and police or campus security help if you are in danger.

After a traumatic event, such as experiencing or witnessing violence, you may feel isolated, but you do not have to go through this alone. There are people who have experience in listening to and supporting survivors of violence. All of the contacts listed below have people with the right training and experience to support you:

Sexual Assault Crisis Line (Victoria)

Ph: 1800 806 292 provides after-hours telephone crisis counselling support, information, advocacy and referral to anyone living in Victoria who has experienced any form of sexual assault at any point in their lives. They also provide support to non-offending family and friends of victims.

1800 RESPECT (Australia)

Ph: 1800 737 732 is a confidential service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They provide support for people experiencing or at risk of sexual assault or domestic/family violence and also to people supporting someone who has had these experiences such as friends, family and co-workers.
