Leading economics professor to head up Ararat Jobs and Technology Precinct

Professor Harpinder Sandhu will head up the new Ararat Jobs and Technology Precinct, which is under construction at Laby Street in central Ararat.

Professor Sandhu is an ecological economist with over two decades of professional experience in agriculture and rural development and research leadership and management in government, research institutes and universities. At the United Nations Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, he was a lead author of the Pollination Report and Asia Pacific Regional Assessment, which was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2020.

Like the Horsham hub, the precinct in Ararat will foster collaboration between industry, government, and community to help drive economic growth and job opportunities in the Ararat region. With an initial focus on agribusiness, potential research areas include climate resilience, regenerative agriculture, smart technologies, and biomass energy.
