How can I get involved?

They all meet online six times a year, so you can join in from anywhere.

The nomination process

  1. Complete this nomination form before 6pm, Friday 27 September 2024.

Your nomination will also need to include:

  • The names of two fellow students who support your nomination. They must be in the same category as you (e.g., TAFE students if you're a TAFE student). We'll confirm their support through their Federation University email.
  • A short (200 word) Support Statement. This is your chance to introduce yourself, explain why you’re interested in the role, and showcase any relevant skills or experiences. Make it engaging—student voters will read this during the election if one is called.

Am I eligible?

You must be:

  • Studying at Federation University from within Australia
  • Enrolled at least part-time (time fraction of 0.5 or more)
  • Not employed by Federation University at a time fraction of 0.5 or more
  • Aged 18 years or over
  • Not serving a custodial sentence

A vote may be called

If we get more nominations than available spots, we'll hold an online vote. Enrolled students will be invited to vote via email.

  • Ballot opens: 9am, 7 October 2024
  • Ballot closes: 6pm, 11 October 2024

It’s a simple voting system: you get one vote, and the candidate with the most votes wins. All enrolled students at Federation University can vote.

For some positions, there are specific voting rules:

  • TAFE positions are voted on by TAFE students only.
  • Higher Education coursework positions are voted on by Higher Education coursework students only.
  • Higher Degree Research positions are voted on by Higher Degree Research students only.

We’ll announce the election results within 10 working days after the ballot closes, or once any disputes are sorted out.
