Feeling nervous? That's normal. But we know how you can make your transition to uni easier: get amongst it at Orientation.

If you're doing a Bachelor of Nursing (commencing as a second year student) mark Wednesday, 22 January 2025 in your diary. (Classes start Tuesday, 28 January.) And because your Orientation is earlier than other courses, you’ll basically have the campus to yourself.

Steps for a smooth start

Enrol in your units if you haven't already.

Step 2
Register for Orientation. If you're a Bass or Wonthaggi student, you're invited to the Gippsland Orientation.

Step 3
Register for FedReady.

Step 4
Explore the Nursing resources.

Step 5
Start gathering your mandatory documents.

Step 6
Pack your bags. We've got a handy list of what to bring (including your laptop) below—just scroll down. Then sit back and relax—we can’t wait to welcome you to Federation.

Mt Helen Campus

Mt Helen is set on a whopping 110 hectares of bushland but it’s only 10 kms from the centre of Ballarat. So you can listen to birdsong as you study then paint the town red in your downtime.

Berwick is all landscaped grounds and modern architecture, but it’s only 40km from the Melbourne CBD. You can study in tranquility then pop into the city for some karaoke.

Gippsland is set on 60 luscious hectares (yes, there’s a lake), and Churchill is right next door. After studying in peace you can reward yourself with a cheeky parma in town.

What to bring

1 - Student ID number (it's on your Offer Letter).

2 - Laptop, notepad & pen.

3 - Bank card (we're cashless). There’ll be loads of free food, but if you want a coffee or something extra, you'll need to tap.

4 - Smile and an open mind. Bring excitement to meet new people and explore campus life.

5 - Dress comfortably, and don’t forget your questions—this is your chance to get answers!
