Essential Information
Applying
Please check the application information page for each scholarship before applying. Complete the application form as required. Note some scholarships may require you to answer more specific questions. Upload your support documentation and preview your application before submitting it. When you have completed your application, click ‘Submit.’ You will receive an email to confirm your application has been submitted successfully.
All applicants are notified of the outcome of their application via the email address provided. Ensure your completed application is submitted by the due date. Late applications will not be accepted. If you are unsure about anything, check out the Get Help section below.
How to apply
Applications should take 20−30 minutes to complete.
Login:
- Click the link above to visit the scholarship details page.
- Click Apply Now.
- Scroll to the bottom of the login page and click OR sign in with Federation University.
- Login with your Student ID and password.
Update your Eligibility profile:
- Click your name on the top right, then click My Account.
- Click Eligibility on the left hand menu.
- Select Update your eligibility profile.
- Complete the short survey, this should only take 1−3 mins.
- Click Save my profile.
Apply for your scholarship:
- After clicking Save my profile you'll be shown Eligible Programs.
- Click on the scholarship to access the details.
- Click Apply.
- Complete the Pre-Eligibility Questions.
- If relevant, complete the Written response and Eligibility Form.
- Click Submit.
Applying for multiple scholarships
You can apply for multiple scholarships and grants. However, keep in mind that some scholarships might affect your eligibility for other scholarships.
Re-applying
Most scholarships require new applications each year. Please refer to the information provided on the scholarship application page.
Reference letter
A reference letter is a written recommendation from someone who knows your situation well. This person:
- should be at least 18 years old.
- have known you for at least a year or for the entire time you were in the situation.
- not be a close family member.
- not live with you.
- and be able to speak about your situation without needing you to explain it to them.
Reference letters can be written by supervisors, co-workers, clients, teachers, or professors.

Thank you letter
A thank-you letter is a simple message to let the scholarship donor know what a difference the payment will make to you. It doesn’t need to be too detailed. If you’re unsure what to write, please refer to the example donor thank you.
Application Questions/Personal Statement
When you are writing your personal statement, include:
- your study history
- your work history
- why you are interested in this program
- groups you are part of (sporting, community, social)
- any volunteer roles you’ve had
- your hobbies
- how a scholarship would help you study.
Payments
Adding banking details
To receive your scholarship payment, you will need to provide us with your personal banking details. Please follow these instructions.
Centrelink payment
We recommend that you contact Centrelink to discuss whether receiving a scholarship will affect any payments you might be receiving.
Taxation
We are not able to provide tax advice regarding scholarships and grants received, but you can find information about scholarship payments and tax on the ATO website.
Payment date
If you have been selected for a scholarship with semester instalments, your payment will be processed into your nominated bank account within ten business days of the census date.
Other scholarships and grants are processed on Tuesdays and released to the recipients’ bank accounts the following Friday.
Leave from studies
If you take leave from your studies, you forfeit your scholarship or grant and will not receive any future payments. Please refer to the relevant scholarship conditions on the application page.
Invoice
Scholarship tax invoices will appear on your my Student Centre (MySC) account. To view your invoices, log in to MySC, select the “Finance” tile and choose “View details.” The “Payments received / HELP deferrals” section includes any scholarship instalments that have been posted to your account. International fee reduction scholarships
The international fee reduction scholarships are overseen by our International Admissions team and are assessed with your course application. Please note the Scholarships and Grants team is unable to provide information regarding those scholarships.
